There’s no lack of good food in Oakland’s Jack London Square, and with Miss Pearl’s Jam House on the premises, live music, live comedy, $1 oysters during Happy Hour, and sports broadcasts on the big screen are also in healthy abundance.
While Caribbean food and Louisiana-style Cajun cooking put some spice on the menu, it’s difficult to pigeonhole this restaurant into one particular niche. Miss Pearl’s Jam House has a little bit of everything, which helps make it one of the most popular destinations on the Oakland waterfront.
Thursday through Saturday evening, the venue hosts late night comedy shows at 8 p.m. for $10. There’s also live music in the bar area on Thursday and Friday nights, with everything from 5-piece Latin Jazz ensembles to rock bands pumping up the audience. The three big screens in the bar are usually tuned in to ESPN, providing free sports broadcasts to enjoy with your beer and cocktails. And speaking of beer and cocktails, Happy Hour here is from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, when the drinks are available at reduced prices, homemade barbeque, links, and riblets are grilled up for a deal on the patio, and $1 oysters make the menu.
Brunch offerings include Creole and Jamaican Jam House Scrambles, Poppy’s Cala, a New Orlean’s style rice fritter with Meyer lemon curd, Cripsy Catfish “Fingers,” and the Cubano Sandwich. The lunch and dinner menus feature starters like BBQ shrimp and grits and Shrimp Martinique, sides like sweet potato fries and slow-cooked greens, and main courses like chicken and shrimp gumbo and blackened wild pacific salmon. But don’t overlook the bar menu on your quest for southern flavors. If you feel like something more traditional, there are always your go-to chicken wings and calamari with chipotle-aioli dipping sauce here. The bar menu is available in the afternoon and evening hours.
Connected to the Waterfront Hotel, Miss Pearl’s Jam House features several dining areas, including private party rooms, formal and casual seating areas, outdoor patios, and indoor tables with a view of the water. Each room has a different look and an overall casual vibe.
